Walking for Justice. Fundraising for Dignity. Honoring Our Humanity.
What is el Camino de la Esperanza / A Journey of Hope?
Camino de la Esperanza / A Journey of Hope is an international advocacy and pilgrimage program led by New Horizons Alliance. This initiative combines spiritual reflection with political action to uplift the dignity, visibility, and leadership of immigrants.
The journey includes a 12-day pilgrimage along the Portuguese Coastal Route of El Camino de Santiago in Spain and culminates in participation at the Jubilee of Migrants in Rome, on October 5, 2025.
We walk for:
Undocumented immigrants in detention centers.
Immigrant families separated by borders.
Undocumented youth striving to be seen and heard.
DACA recipients living under constant legal uncertainty.
All those impacted by unjust immigration enforcement.
How our immigrant community is affected:
61,226 immigrants are in ICE detention
70.3% have no criminal conviction*
Over 182,000 are under ICE’s electronic monitoring (ATD) programs
These are not just numbers—they are lives under surveillance within a system that harms. This pilgrimage is a direct response to these conditions. It’s a call for transformation.
“No human being is illegal.”
This once-in-a-generation event—the Jubilee of Migrants—invites people from around the world to gather in reflection, ritual, and renewal.
We walk because:
It symbolizes a global commitment to reconciliation, dignity, and inclusion.
For many DACA recipients and immigrant communities, it’s a space to be visible, spiritual, and empowered.
As NHA, we will engage in cross-cultural, faith-based advocacy to raise awareness about U.S. immigration injustices.
From Porto to Santiago, and onward to Rome, this pilgrimage spans over 270 km across Portugal and Spain, ending with the Jubilee of Migrants at the Vatican.
